Plant Trees!
The time to meet for this service outing at The Old Fly Factory in downtown Grayling (formerly Ray's Canoe Livery) on the Au Sable River has been changed from 9AM to 8:30AM.
I need to know if you are planning (or not) to help the Sierra Club plant 50 white cedars on the Upper Manistee River on Saturday, September 21st, to make sure we have enough volunteers to get it done.
This involves not only digging and planting but building and staking out tree cages to protect the cedar saplings from being eaten by the local deer.
I hope that many of you can be there to help restore the cedar habitat in the Deward area, the site of one of the largest timber mills back in the old days of when most of Michigan's forests where cut down.
If you have any questions, please call Lorne Beatty on my mobile at 810-333-6090.
